The sweeping performance is also impressive on carpets as well as bare flooring. The vacuum/mop unit has an excellent level of debris pickup and the mop is able to soak up floors that are not soiled.
The mops also use a smart system to clean around the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot avoids most bulkier obstacles like food bowls, toys, shoes, and backpacks without any difficulty. But it can get stuck or get caught up in smaller and less hefty objects like shoelaces, USB cables and pen.
We used this robot to vacuum and mop a mix of pile carpet tiles, FLOR rugs and hardwood floors within a large, open floor plan. With FREO Mind enabled, it vacuumed and mopped a 90m2 area in about 170 minutes which is about the average for Gen 4.

The Scout RX3 impressed us in our tests on how well it was able to clean baking powder around baseboards and corners. Its 2,500Pa suction was weaker than other robots, but it was still quiet and moved quickly. It didn't clean, however, and its removable cleaning pads were a bit difficult to attach and didn't deal with dried-on dirt.
The app is basic with no advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It works with Alexa however its voice commands don't seem to be very precise or responsive. Also, it's a bit unreliable when it comes navigating its way back to the charging station after running other robots are able to follow a previous route or even follow a wall around until they reach their destination, but the RX3 just bumbles about until it quits and sends a message of failure to your phone.
We also had issues with the intelligent features of the device, including its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. It was great at keeping our furniture legs and shoes away, but it was easily caught on cables, socks, and rugs. That's the reason we didn't choose to include it in our Best Buy list. With a decent price and a dazzling performance, the Scout RX3 is worth considering in the event you're looking to find an alternative to traditional uprights.
